13. Sleepy Floyd

NBA fans got to witness some of the most incredible postseason play in NBA history during last year’s playoffs. There were individual records being set. And still, nothing came all that close to what Sleepy Floyd did during his career.

Floyd has the record for most points in a postseason quarter and half. In Game 4 of the 1987 Western Conference Semifinals against the Los Angeles Lakers, Floyd lit them up for 29 points in the fourth quarter and 39 points in the half. It was a spectacular performance against Magic Johnson and the eventual NBA champion Lakers.

While the Warriors still fell to Los Angeles (4-1), Floyd single-handedly helped prevent the sweep in one of the most incredible postseason performances ever. The record still stands to this day. With all of the great players to shine during the postseason–from Michael Jordan to LeBron James to Stephen Curry–it’s Sleepy Floyd who holds those records.

But Floyd’s impact goes beyond just one game. His Warriors’ career outside of that amazing game was solid. In six seasons, he averaged 17.7 points and 6.7 assists per game while shooting nearly 47 percent from the field. These were all career highs. In the 1986-87 season, Floyd was named an All-Star.

He was a good player during his time in the Bay Area and he immortalized himself with his jaw-dropping performance against one of the most dominant teams to ever step on a basketball court.
