The Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers are set to face off this year on Christmas Day.

It has been only but one year since the Warriors and Cavaliers faced off on Christmas Day. It was a huge prime time match-up that was full of excitement. This was one of early meetings between the two rivals and it defined how a clash between Golden State and Cleveland would look. It was a physical game and the pace was at a variety.

Stephen Curry and Lebron James made for a great match-up that night despite both of them having relatively off nights. The lead changes and momentum swings had basketball fans such as myself on the edge of our seats. Now we fast forward to a re-tooled Golden State and a re-tooled Cleveland Cavaliers. This will be the biggest clash of the titans on Christmas yet and I have a feeling Golden State will come out on top again this year.

Despite the steps back the Warriors have taken defensively, the identity of the team remains the same offensively and with more star power than ever, a middle of the pack defense isn’t such a liability. Cleveland has definitely improved this year and the Finals is far from now.

At this current juncture, Golden State seems to be ahead of schedule in molding things together. Golden State currently holds the best record in the league at 17-3. It would seem nearly impossible for them to lose it by the time December 25th rolls around.

Kryie Irving is playing great. Kevin Durant is playing great. Lebron James and Stephen Curry are playing good basketball which further heightens the impact of this Christmas day match-up. While it is totally possible that it could go either way, there are five reasons Golden State will take the victory on Christmas Day.
