Steph Curry will win his third straight MVP

The two-time MVP is not even in the conversation for this year’s award. He’s well behind Russell Westbrook, James Harden, LeBron James, and Kawhi Leonard. Even his teammate, Kevin Durant, is in the running. Then there are guys like Chris Paul and Isaiah Thomas who could get recognition.

Basically, through the first 56 games of the season, Curry isn’t really in the discussion. His numbers are similar to what he did throughout his first Most Valuable Player campaign. He’s nowhere near last year’s production.

Curry isn’t putting up unanimous MVP-like numbers again for two reasons. First of all, that was one of the most incredible seasons anyone has ever completed. Secondly, he doesn’t need to match that kind of production.

The superstar point guard had an amazing January and followed it up with a strong first week of February. Essentially, he’s showing that he can turn it on whenever he wants. With Durant, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green helping him, he doesn’t need to be nearly perfect.

As the Warriors learn more about themselves, Steve Kerr and co. will learn to understand the team is better when Curry gets going. Everything starts and ends with him. He is what makes Golden State go.

Curry is going to pick up steam as the Warriors get ready for the playoff push. Furthermore, Westbrook and Harden carry too much of the load to sustain their high level of prediction. Also, they’re not at the top of the standings.

Leonard, last year’s runner-up, and James will not match Curry’s production. Thomas’ defensive shortcomings will be his downfall. Durant will take a backseat.

Curry’s going to go super-saiyan and dominate the league like he has been doing for the last few years. Not unanimously, but he’ll win this third straight Most Valuable Player award because he’s the most important player on the best team in league history.
