The Golden State Warriors have a chance to defeat the Los Angeles Clippers for the 10th straight time on Thursday night.

The long NBA All-Star Break is just about over. It feels like it’s been a while since the Golden State Warriors last played a game, after they blew out the Sacramento Kings to push their record to 47-9. While most fans of teams are eagerly anticipating the NBA Trade Deadline on Thursday, that’s really not an area where the Warriors have been mentioned for the obvious reasons of having locked up their cap space.

The Warriors are one of those teams that returns to the court on Thursday night, and it’s an opportunity for them to start slowly ramping up to make their playoff push and get into the right mode for the postseason. They will begin their slate of the final 26 games of the season against the Los Angeles Clippers. These two teams have met a couple of times recently.

Once their biggest rivals, the Warriors have beaten the Clippers nine straight times and have an opportunity to make it 10 on Thursday night. The Warriors will treat this game like a playoff atmosphere with their home crowd and it’s an important one for many reasons.

The Clippers are likely to be the No. 4 or No. 5 seed in the Western Conference Playoffs. For whatever reason, they seem to have some ridiculous winning streak over the Utah Jazz. If that extends to the playoffs and the Clippers knock off the Jazz, then they’re likely facing Golden State in the second round barring some unforeseen miracle.

Therefore it’s important that the Warriors put their foot down with yet another huge win over the Clippers. We have seen time and time again Golden State blow out Los Angeles, but it’s more imperative than ever this time.

The Warriors don’t need to give the Clippers any reason or momentum they can use down the line in a potential playoff matchup. Getting a win over Golden State would leave Los Angeles feeling good about themselves. While the Warriors would still be the heavy favorites in the series and it would be just win, there’s no reason to give them any hope at all.
