The Golden State Warriors will begin the month of March atop the NBA standings with the best record across the league.
The Golden State Warriors once again start the month of March with 50 wins in their pocket and the best record overall in the NBA. While things are looking good for Golden State, they will now have some issues of their own they will have to battle. To close out the month of February, Kevin Durant suffered an MCL injury that is going to keep him out likely until the playoffs.

That means the Warriors are going to have to go at it with their original big three to hold onto the best record in the NBA and live life without Durant. While some will think it’s easy considering how great they have been the last two years, it will take a brief adjustment period. The Warriors really have evolved as a team with Durant in the lineup and not having him will have a bit of an unfamiliar feeling.
As they try to lock down the best record in the month of March, they have the San Antonio Spurs behind them. This is the time of year where the Spurs get it going and make their playoff push. The Warriors can’t afford to finish with the No. 2 seed behind San Antonio. Here’s how the Western Conference shakes out.
- Golden State Warriors: 50 – 10
- San Antonio Spurs: 46-13
- Houston Rockets: 43-19
- Utah Jazz: 37-24
- Los Angeles Clippers: 36-24
- Memphis Grizzlies: 36-25
- Oklahoma City Thunder: 35-25
- Denver Nuggets: 28-33
- Sacramento Kings: 25-36
- Minnesota Timberwolves: 25-36
- Portland Trail Blazers: 24-35
- Dallas Mavericks: 24-36
- New Orleans Pelicans: 24-37
- Los Angeles Lakers: 19-42
- Phoenix Suns: 18-42
The bottom half of the playoff seeding in the Western Conference is currently a fluid situation. It’s likely to keep moving around and it will take up until the final game of the season to be set in stone completely.
The same can be said about every seed in the Eastern Conference except the top seed. The Cleveland Cavaliers still hold the top spot in the conference but what happens behind them is anyone’s guess.
The No. 2 – No. 7 seeds could change at anytime and that will also be a race that extends until the end of the year. The Cavaliers could face a variety of teams in the No. 8 seed in the playoffs. Here’s a look at the Eastern Conference standings.
- Cleveland Cavaliers: 41-18
- Boston Celtics: 39-22
- Washington Wizards: 36-23
- Toronto Raptors: 36-25
- Atlanta Hawks: 34-26
- Indiana Pacers: 31-30
- Chicago Bulls: 30-30
- Detroit Pistons: 29-32
- Miami Heat: 28-33
- Milwaukee Bucks: 26-33
- Charlotte Hornets: 26-34
- New York Knicks: 25-36
- Philadelphia 76ers: 22-38
- Orlando Magic: 22-39
- Brooklyn Nets: 10-49
Basically, this is the month where the Warriors can put things away and get ready for the playoffs. There’s plenty of basketball to be played and Golden State will have to hold it together until Durant is healthy enough to return.

They have some key battles on hand and it will be interesting to see how the standings shake out in both conferences once April arrives. If Golden State can get past the 62-win mark by the end of the month, they should be primed to seal the best record in the league.
