The Golden State Warriors tried their best to erase a deficit, but fell short to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night.

Adversity is striking at the worst possible time for the Golden State Warriors. If there were questions about whether or not this team was actually battling issues or going through a slump, this team is definitely struggling. Against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night, the Warriors had to try and push through another so-so performance.

The same struggles that have plagued Golden State in losing four of their last six, plagued them once again. They didn’t shoot from deep well and they struggled to hold onto the basketball a little bit, although not as bad as their previous game.

From the beginning of the game, it was clear that this would be another night of struggles for Golden State. Minnesota got out to a 34-24 lead after the first quarter and they were off and running.

Ricky Rubio had a masterful night running the point for the Timberwolves. To the shock of absolutely no one, he got the team going through passing the ball. However, he was aggressive too and did a great job of getting to the free throw line.

Rubio would finish a perfect 11-11 from the charity stripe and it really frustrated Golden State. In fact, it didn’t seem like the Warriors were fans of the calls being made on the floor. Draymond Green was vocally upset and Zaza Pachulia eventually fouled out.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson tried their best to will the team with a combined 56 points, but it just wasn’t enough as they didn’t get the contributions they needed. They tried their hardest to erase a 14-point deficit late in the game and they took a brief lead late. Itt wasn’t enough as Minnesota took the lead late over a controversial foul. There will be plenty of discussion about the late foul calls, but it’s a waste of breath at this point.

It might be time to start worrying just a little bit. Golden State will play San Antonio on the road tomorrow night and they’re going to be resting everyone, which means that game will tell us not as much as we’d like to know about the two teams, if anything at all.
