The Golden State Warriors managed to come away with a win at home over the Philadelphia 76ers on Stephen Curry’s birthday.

41. 104. 93. Final. 106

On a night where the Golden State Warriors celebrated Stephen Curry’s 29th birthday, the team barely escaped with a win over the young Philadelphia 76ers. With three days off after losing four of their last six, the Warriors’ struggles continued early.

The Warriors played as bad as they possibly have at Oracle for some time and they let the 76ers take a 13-point lead on them in the second half. With boos pouring in from the crowd, the Warriors had to dig deep before this losing streak they’re on got worse.

Things finally began to pick up as Curry scored 29 points and Klay Thompson chipped in 28 of his own to give the team the two-point win. However, the key to the win in this game was Draymond Green stepping up.

With 20 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists, Green had one of his best games of the year. His most important numbers were six blocks and four steals. His key rejection late in the game sealed the win for the Warriors and it was reminiscent of the wins they had at the beginning of the season at home. It looked awfully similar to his rejection of Dennis Schroder against the Atlanta Hawks.

Philadelphia made sure to force Golden State into turning the ball over. Perhaps the worst was on a transition for Golden State, when Matt Barnes threw a lazy pass out of bounds as he tried to hit Green in stride for a breakaway score.

Lethargic behavior and sloppy play seemed to plague the Warriors again and this is a legitimate issue they have to figure out. The good news is they locked in for one final quarter and that was enough to defeat the 76ers.

This effort probably isn’t good enough to beat other teams and it’s clear this team is missing Kevin Durant. However, they’re going to have to find a way to navigate the rest of the way without him and get things right. It wasn’t pretty, but they got the win and now they have to focus on improving everything across the board. For now, they’re back in the top seed in the Western Conference.
