The Golden State Warriors should be able to put a stranglehold on the No. 1 seed if they win their next four games. However, this is their toughest stretch.

More from Warriors News

At 58-14, the Golden State Warriors currently hold a 2.5-game lead for the top seed in the Western Conference with 10 games remaining. Considering the team is on a six-game winning streak, they’re hitting their stride at the right time. Still, they have a brutal stretch coming up and the next four games are going to be critical if they want to be the top seed.

To close out March, the Warriors will play the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets twice and the San Antonio Spurs. The Grizzlies and Rockets aren’t in contention for the top seed but both have given Golden State plenty of problems. Both have won a game at the Oracle Arena.

Then of course, there’s the Spurs. The team that is trying to take the top seed away from Golden State. The last time the Warriors were in San Antonio, they captured all the headlines by resting their talent during the game. With their next game in San Antonio coming on the back end of a back-to-back set, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them rest their guys.

The good news is that with few games remaining, the Spurs virtually have to remain perfect. If the Warriors keep on winning, then it closes the Spurs’ window at claiming the top seed. Needless to say, the Warriors need to take care of business and make sure that they can afford to lose a game if they have to.

The theme of the season for Golden State has been tests. They’ve faced tests all year and for the most part, they’ve passed them. They got through some adversity and now are playing at their best again. They’ll need it to get through this stretch.
