The Golden State Warriors won their 60th game behind Stephen Curry’s incredible game as they defeated the Houston Rockets.

The Golden State Warriors have improved to 60-14. It’s their third season in a row reaching that sixty win mark. They are the first team since Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls of 1995-98 to do so.

They outlasted a Houston Rockets team that nearly erased a 22 point deficit. The Warriors got off to a great start, but cooled down as the game went on. They managed to make enough plays on both sides of the ball late in the game to win 113-106.

There was some buzz before the ball even tipped off as Kevin Durant was warming up with the team. He was on the floor going through drills and putting up shots. With the playoffs right around the corner, the team and the fans have to be excited that he looks like he’s close to returning.

Golden State raced off to a hot start. They were hitting shots from everywhere and playing great defense. They looked quick as the ball hopped around and, eventually, went in to the basket.

But the ball stopped going in for the Warriors. And, instead of making good passes to each other, they started to turn the ball over. And, instead of playing good defense, they committed fouls.

The free throws were a big equalizer in this game for Houston. They took 39 free throws, making 35 of them. James Harden shot 13 of his own while Golden State, as a team, only attempted 16 shots from the foul line.

Despite letting the Rockets get to the free throw line a lot, the Warriors protected the three-point line well. They took away Houston’s biggest weapon. The Rockets are a deadly three-point shooting team that shot just 16 percent (5/31).

It was a battle of two of the league’s brightest superstars and, once again, Stephen Curry won. Harden had a fantastic game that will surely help him during his MVP campaign. He had 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists.

Curry, though, was fantastic. Though he didn’t shoot well from three, he drove the ball well. He scored 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists. Most importantly, he made huge plays down the stretch hitting a monstrous three over Clint Capela and a fading one-footer to seal the deal.

The Warriors won’t be leaving Houston unscathed. James Michael McAdoo took a blow from Trevor Ariza. He had to get stitches and underwent concussion protocol. They also had a scare with Draymond Green who hurt his ankle. He was re-taped and returned to the game in the fourth quarter.

The Warriors are traveling to San Antonio to take on the Spurs tomorrow. It’ll be interesting to see if Steve Kerr makes any adjustments to the rotation. It was a big win for Golden State who are one step closer to securing that top seed.
