The Golden State Warriors will try to sweep the Portland Trailblazers, but if it goes to a Game 5 there will be a conflict with a Chance the Rapper concert.

The Golden State Warriors will be taking on the Portland Trailblazers in the first round of this year’s playoffs. They’re looking to make their third straight deep run, but they need to start somewhere. Game 1 is Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at Oracle Arena.

Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum are both fantastic players that can explode at any moment. While the Warriors have a lot of talent, Portland’s firepower can extend this series. That could be a problem.

Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday, April 26. The issue is that Oracle Arena is already booked for that night. Chance the Rapper is supposed to perform. This was first noticed by SB Nation’s Tim Caito.

The concert has been booked for months so it seems like the NBA could have worked around it. It seems like it was just oversight. But no worries, there’s a backup plan.

The Warriors released this statement:

"When booking concert events at the arena during a playoff run, we typically schedule contingency dates for that event. The Warriors will have the priority on April 26th.A formal announcement for the Chance the Rapper show is in the works, pending that the show will be moved."

So it looks like if the series were to get to a Game 5, the concert would be moved. And, of course it would. The money brought in by a playoff game would far exceed the star rapper’s concert.

The Warriors can help out Chance and their fans who have tickets to the concert by sweeping the Blazers. They beat Portland in the playoffs last year in five games. The Dubs also swept them during the regular season series.

If any of the Warriors have tickets to the concert, that just gives them added motivation to put the Blazers away in four.
