The Golden State Warriors could be without their MVP small forward when they take on the Portland Trailblazers in Game 2. Kevin Durant has been listed as questionable with a left calf strain for the second game in the series. He did not practice with the team today.

During Game 1, Durant was getting his leg worked on while he was on the bench. It was later reported that he was dealing with left leg cramps. After the game, during his presser, Durant said that he was fine.

There is reason for the Warriors to be concerned because it was his left knee that suffered the MCL sprain earlier in the season. They want to make sure that he’s ready for a deep postseason run. So they kept him out of practice and they’ll monitor his progress.

If Durant can’t play, then Steve Kerr has some tough decisions to make. Shaun Livingston and Matt Barnes are also listed as questionable. If Golden State is missing another player, then he has to get creative with his lineups and increase the starters’ workloads.

Missing Game 2 wouldn’t be the worst thing for Durant or the team. The Warriors have proven that they can beat the Blazers while shorthanded. They defeated them last year after Stephen Curry missed the first three games with an injury.

The superstar forward needs to be careful. Perhaps he’s overcompensating right now. He was also thrust back into the action after missing an extended period of time.

Durant had 32 points in 35 minutes in Game 1. He shot 60 percent from the field despite hitting just two of his six three-point attempts. He also grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked one shot.
