Golden State looked like the team that has had all the time in the world to rest after their sweep, while the Jazz looked like a team that just played a seven-game series. Early on, Golden State looked to dice up the Jazz, and Stephen Curry was in MVP form.
To say that Curry can do damage in a variety of ways would be an understatement in this one. He had a beautiful spin move that made Rudy Gobert look like a 15th man on the bench. While he does that to everyone, it’s a nice little assist to teammate Draymond Green in the Defensive Player of the Year Voting. In all seriousness, this was just a game from the beginning where Golden State jumped on the tired Jazz.
They were able to push the lead into double digits by the second quarter. Unfortunately, the bench didn’t provide much production as the team would have hoped, and the Jazz made sure to keep it a game.
One of the players talked about needing to make an impact in this series, certainly had the highlight of the night. JaVale McGee threw down one of the best alley-oops all year and that gave life to Golden State for the kill.
Defensively, Golden State locked down on Utah. Gordon Hayward was held to just 12 points on 4-15 shooting from the field. It’s a series where defense is going to tell the story and Golden State quickly let theirs do the talking.

It was cruise control through the fourth quarter and the Warriors made sure to not let the Jazz make a serious run at clipping the lead and making it interesting. Curry would lead all scorers with 22, while Green’s +19 sparked a big night.
Game 2 will take place on Thursday night, and the Warriors are certainly likely to see a much better performance out of Utah’s best players. The bench will need to provide more of a boost, as the team looks to make it six straight to begin the playoffs.
