The Golden State Warriors will play the San Antonio Spurs in the 2017 NBA Western Conference Finals.

At long last, the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs will meet with a chance to make a trip to the NBA Finals on the line. The two top dogs of the Western Conference had their fate officially sealed on Thursday night, when the Spurs eliminated the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference Semifinals.

Even crazier is the fact that they dismantled the Rockets with Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker. It just once again proves that the Spurs are fundamentally sound enough across the board to blow out anyone at any particular time they need to.

We have seen the Spurs and Warriors in the playoffs before, but not with this Golden State team. It has always felt like something has gotten in the way of these two teams squaring off and now it will be a chance for Golden State to add one more accomplishment to their current run or for the Spurs to add to their legacy.

With all the rest on their side and the Spurs dealing with some major injuries, the Warriors on paper are catching a bit of break. Yet, we have seen time and time again how the Spurs end up doing their best work in this very situation.

Golden State, by virtue of having the best record in the Western Conference, will have home court in this series. That’s where they will have to take care of business. San Antonio won the season series between the two teams, but a remarkable comeback by Golden State in the final game between the two gave them the edge to go on this run they are on.

These two teams have tried to hold back against the other to save it for the playoffs. There’s no time to save anything now, as they will meet for it all in the Western Conference Finals. It doesn’t get much bigger than this in the west.
