Golden State Warriors center Zaza Pachulia continues to remind Klay Thompson of the time he outscored him.

OAKLAND, Calif. — For a team that just found out they would be facing the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals, the Golden State Warriors seemed incredibly loose at practice on Friday.

When the time for post-practice media came around, Klay Thompson walked over to the media area so nonchalantly, the media scrum hounding Kevin Durant had to be reminded that Thompson was also available for questions.

“Did you watch the entire game yesterday between the Spurs and Rockets — any of it?” asked NBCS Bay Area’s Monte Poole.

"“I watched some of it. Watched the second half. Big shock when I woke up and saw the score,” Thompson stated calmly. “To San Antonio’s credit — they didn’t make excuses when their best player was out and they played a tremendous team game.”"

He went on to answer a couple more Spurs questions, and nothing seemed too out of the ordinary…until I felt a tall presence loom over me.

“Excuse me guys — Klay, could you sign this please?” asked Zaza Pachulia, interrupting Thompson mid-answer. Pachulia then delicately placed a rather large, black picture frame on the table.

It took a second, but everyone around the table soon realized the frame contained a fake San Francisco Chronicle front page article with the headline “HELL FREEZES OVER.” The subheading: “Pachulia outscores Thompson.”

“You got a pen?” Thompson said, smiling.

To the right of the fake newspaper headline was a box score from the team’s Game 3 road victory over the Utah Jazz, which ended with Pachulia scoring seven points to Thompson’s six. The Georgian big man has made his unique accomplishment into a running joke between the two ever since, beginning with this Instagram post:

The fake headline was just the latest tease from Pachulia, who simply refuses to let Thompson forget his Game 3 blunder. Credit Pachulia for his creativity. The frame was a nice touch.

“Someone burn this,” Thompson jokingly said as he concluded his media availability, referring to the fake newspaper headline laying on the table in front of him.

He later posted this on Instagram:

Pachulia was quick to comment, claiming the fishing picture was a “nice Photoshop.”

At this point, I don’t even care who wins the Warriors-Spurs series; I just wanna continue being a front row spectator to the most perplexing, unexpected, mind-boggling bromance in NBA history.
