Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry is playing at an MVP level at the right time. What does the superstar have in store for his next performance?

The first game between the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals is one that’s going to be talked about at length and for good reason. Whether it’s the injury to Kawhi Leonard, Zaza Pachulia or the massive comeback, this game didn’t go the cheap route on narratives.

One of those narratives that was established in the 25-point comeback by the Warriors, was the play of Stephen Curry. When his team was in a massive hole against an unstoppable force when it comes to big leads, he turned in an MVP-level performance and carried them out of it.

With Klay Thompson struggling to score the ball, Curry stepped up and put together a 40-point performance at home. He won the game for his team with his last shot and it was every bit the moment that we should have seen coming from him.

It should come as no surprise this team has the talent to erase any deficit, but to do it against a Spurs team that doesn’t give up these types of leads speaks to the level that Curry was on. At 14-26 shooting, Curry had to be red hot to give his team even a remote chance at the lead.

Now, with confidence on their side and plenty of uncertainty facing the Spurs, this is where Curry has the opportunity to put the team on his back and carry them to the NBA Finals. It should go without saying, that a wounded Spurs team is the most dangerous type of team there is and Golden State will have to be prepared.

Still, this isn’t the Curry that tried to get by through the playoffs last year on a bad knee. He’s healthy, in a groove and reminding everyone exactly why he is good for business. He might be just getting started.
