The Golden State Warriors weren’t being insulted by Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue and no one should look too much into it.

When a rival says something about the other side in sports, it’s easy to jump in and try to make a mountain out of a mole hill. Everyone falls prey to it and does it at some point. The truth is that it is easy to often blow things out of proportion. On Wednesday, Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue caused quite a stir when discussing the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors.

More from Warriors News

Speaking to a group of beat writers (Via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin) Lue had nothing but praise and appeared to what by some could possibly be perceived as a shot at the Warriors. He mentioned the complexity of what Brad Stevens has the Celtics do on offense and how it is tougher than defending the Golden State Warriors. He also mentioned that they’re not thinking of the Warriors either at the moment.

The initial reaction of course is to think that Lue was taking a shot at Golden State. Truthfully, the answer seems to be right there off the bat when he mentions that they’re not thinking of Golden State yet. That may or may not be truthful but it shows Lue’s intent is to talk up what Boston can do because he’s going to have plenty of time to discuss Golden State.

Of all the things to go down in this rivalry thus far, him saying Boston is tougher to defend than Golden State is certainly nothing worthy of losing their minds over. The Celtics with a variety of pieces do have a pretty complex scheme.

So do the Warriors and with three superstars on one team, it’s hard to say that anyone is tougher to defend than Golden State. Perhaps the fact that the Warriors have so much firepower makes them a little more predictable as to what they’re going to do. It just makes them look all the more dominant for doing so.

It’s that time of the year where people will be combing through every comment looking for something to find. Right now, Golden State has their ticket punched to the NBA Finals. They’re just waiting on Cleveland to finish the job. That’s where Lue’s focus is and he’s right when he says it’s not on Golden State…yet.
