The Golden State Warriors sweeping through the playoffs would be far greater than any regular season accomplishment they have achieved.

Everyone knows what a fun ride watching the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors was. Chasing down the record most wins in the NBA regular season was quite the thrill and just something that won’t happen again. However, it ended in a way that no one wants to remember in the bay area, yet it can be erased in these NBA Finals.

After the disastrous end to last season, the Warriors once again have their shot at redemption. A chance to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers and bring back the championship would certainly add to the legacy this team is trying to build. They also currently have a shot to do something greater than 73-9.

While the Warriors own the record for greatest regular season record of all time, they can take home a postseason record as well. No team has ever ever swept through the playoffs at 16-0 and the Warriors would be the first do so if they can.

They have already made it through the Western Conference at 12-0. Needless to say, that is impressive in itself and a reminder of just how locked in this team really is. However, getting to 16-0 is an entirely different game.

The Cavaliers have been almost perfect as well minus one small slip against the Boston Celtics. Other than that, they have been blowing just about every team out of the water and they certainly aren’t going to make it easy on Golden State.

After all, these two teams have played a combined 13 games in the last two NBA Finals. History would indicate that this series is likely to go six or seven games. However, if it didn’t and the Warriors were able to sweep a Cavaliers team playing arguably their best basketball ever, then that would give them a record no team has ever had before and arguably the greatest team accomplishment of all time.
