The Cleveland Cavaliers thought it was a good idea to let Durant walk to the rim whenever he wanted. Their transition defense was horrible and they offered little resistance. Durant knew that and continued to attack.
Durant had six dunks in the first half so there’s a lot to choose from for this slide. His slams on the break were really amazing. The Cavaliers were clearly overwhelmed by the seven footer leading the break with his long strides and great handle.
They were also extremely concerned with Stephen Curry. They consistently ran to Curry on the break and left Durant wide open. It was hilarious to watch.
This play is amazing. Both LeBron James and Kyrie Irving were so concerned with giving up a three to Curry that they let the 2014 NBA MVP have a wide open path to the rim. It’s a bold strategy.
That sequence just shows how much fear Curry puts into his opponents. That type of impact doesn’t show up in the stat sheet, but it’s extremely important and vital to winning basketball games. Curry’s gravity makes the game easier for everyone else.
