Golden State Warriors Announce Summer League Roster
Golden State Warriors rookie Jordan Bell headlines the team’s 2017 NBA Summer League roster in Las Vegas.
The Golden State Warriors announced their 2017 NBA Summer League roster on Tuesday afternoon, along with the team’s preliminary game schedule in Las Vegas beginning on Saturday, July 8.
Chris DeMarco, who serves as an assistant coach and player development coach with Golden State, will be head coach of the Vegas Summer League team.
This will be Golden State’s 12th appearance in Las Vegas. Winners of the NBA Summer League title in 2013, the Warriors hold an all-time 36-23 (.610) Summer League record — the best win-loss record in Summer League history.
Fans will automatically recognize names like Patrick McCaw, Damian Jones and Kevon Looney, who won a title with the Dubs this past season and are expected to be rather impressive in Vegas.
But make no mistake: all eyes will be on Warriors rookie Jordan Bell out of Oregon, whose draft rights were traded to the Warriors by the Chicago Bulls after being selected 38th overall in the 2017 NBA Draft.
Fellow Ducks player Chris Boucher, who is set to become the first two-way contract in Warriors history come July, will be joining Bell in Vegas. NBA two-way contracts will allow players to spend up to 45 days on an NBA roster while earning a salary proportional to an NBA pro.
Additionally, that player will also earn a G-League salary playing with an organization’s G-League affiliate — which, in Boucher’s case, means the Santa Cruz Warriors. Jabari Brown, Alex Hamilton, and Elgin Cook — each of whom were integral to Santa Cruz’s success last season — will also be in Vegas with the Warriors Summer League squad.
Golden State’s preliminary Summer League games will be televised either on ESPN2 or NBA TV (see TV schedule above). NBC Sports Bay Area is also set to televise the Warriors’ Summer League game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on July 10.
The Golden State Warriors app will broadcast audio commentary from all three preliminary games, while the final two preliminary games will also be broadcast on 95.7 The Game.
Following the preliminaries, teams will be seeded in a tournament beginning July 12. Each team will play a minimum of five Summer League contests, with the NBA Summer League Championship Game taking place on Monday, July 17.
