According to a report, Paul George has already hit up Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson about playing with the Lakers in 2019.

The NBA landscape has changed to the point of superstars play with superstars. Long gone are the days of one player taking on the league. The current CBA has allowed for this landscape to chance and it has given the Golden State Warriors the opportunity to add a piece like Kevin Durant. Could it cause them to lose a piece like Klay Thompson?

More from Warriors News

When a team like the Warriors goes on the tear that they have, eventually there’s going to be questions about whether or not a player will leave to go get his money elsewhere. Of course, this has somehow led to rumors of Klay Thompson being the one to maybe one day leave and go be the man on his own team.

It’s a crazy thought to think about, since Thompson is one of the most laid back players in the league and was a draft pick of the Warriors. That won’t stop the rumors however. According to former Warriors, Kelenna Azubuike (Via Joe Fortenbaugh of 95.7 The Game) Indiana Pacers forward Paul George has reached out to Thompson about playing with the Lakers. Thompson of course won’t be a free agent until 2019.

While this is certainly still a rumor and speculation, it shows that George is dead set on finding his way to Los Angeles. Perhaps that could be part of the hang up as to why the Pacers haven’t successfully dealt him to another team yet.

As for the big fish in this story, Thompson, the rumors are likely going to persist no matter how many titles he wins with the Warriors. Golden State can go over the cap to pay him when the time comes and if they’re still willing to shell out that hefty price tag and he wants to stay, well then there’s nothing to worry about.
