If you’re at home keeping count, the Cleveland Cavaliers have won two of their last three games against the Golden State Warriors. Normally, that’d be great. Unfortunately for them, neither game really meant anything.

The Warriors defeated the Cavaliers in five games in the 2017 NBA Finals, dropping Game 4 and their chance at a perfect postseason. Kevin Durant and co. closed them out in the fifth game in front of DubNation. The Warriors then celebrated their second championship in three years at the expense of LeBron James.

The Cavs bounced back and won their next game against the Warriors. It wasn’t the NBA Finals or, even, a regular season game. They defeated the Dubs in the Summer League.

Golden State fell to Cleveland 91-74. Patrick McCaw played 26 minutes. Damian Jones and Kevon Looney played 21 minutes and 18 minutes respectively.

McCaw struggled shooting the ball in this season. After knocking down five three-pointers in his previous Summer League game, he only made one of his six attempts. He scored just nine points on 3/15 shooting from the field.

Alex Hamilton, who averaged over 11 points per game for the Santa Cruz Warriors, led the team in scoring with 11 points. Jabari Brown dropped 10 of his own. As a team, the Warriors shot just 21 percent from beyond the arc and 33 percent from the field.

Golden State’s starting front court are both guys who played with the team in Oakland during their championship run. The two of them dominated the glass. They each grabbed nine rebounds with Jones also blocking two shots.

The Warriors have dropped both of their Summer League games. The results don’t necessarily matter, but the process is important.
