The Golden State Warriors fell the Minnesota Timberwolves in overtime in the third game of Summer League despite Jordan Bell’s big game.

The Golden State Warriors’ Summer League team can’t get a win. They’ve lost two heartbreakers (and a blowout loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers). This time, they fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Neither the Warriors nor the Wolves could gain any separation after four quarters. The two teams went to overtime. Minnesota’s young Timberpups outlasted the Dubs in the extra period, defeating them 78-76.

Though there is an eventual championship, Summer League is about the process. The results don’t matter nearly as much as progress. Wins and losses take a backseat to development though, to be fair, closing games out is an important quality to have.

Patrick McCaw, who struggled against the Cavs, bounced back. He had 20 points in 33 minutes. He was +10 after shooting 46 percent from the field and knocking down three three-pointers. He did miss two important free throws, but with the way he played in the series-clinching game of the NBA Finals, the Warriors shouldn’t be too concerned with his play in high-pressure situations.

Kevon Looney did not play in this one, sitting out with an allergic reaction. Instead, the rookie Jordan Bell took his spot in the starting lineup. He was absolutely spectacular.

Bell played 32 minutes. He made both of his field goals, finishing with five points. He hauled in 11 rebounds, dished out five assists, came away with five steals, and swatted six shots. He was a game-high +27 despite losing.

Damian Jones started at the center spot. He was neutral in 33 minutes. He scored nine points, four rebounds, and three blocks.

The Warriors fall to 0-3 in Summer League. Still, their front court has played well and Pat McCaw has scored well in two of the three games.
