1. San Antonio Spurs

Make no mistake about it, the San Antonio Spurs acquiring Kyrie Irving would make them the biggest threat to the Golden State Warriors. Although the Warriors swept them in the Western Conference, having a healthy Kawhi Leonard would have made things real interesting.

A Spurs team with Leonard is one that gives the Warriors enough to handle as is. Adding Irving, another player that certainly has given the team every bit they could handle, would make some consider San Antonio potential favorites.

If there is option for Irving to end up, this is the one that Warriors fans should hope he doesn’t go to. That’s not saying Golden State isn’t going to win, they would be the favorites until they are beaten, it’s just a challenge they’d probably rather not have to deal with.

The good news here is that the Spurs probably don’t have the assets the Cavaliers would require in return to land him. He’s only going to end there if Cleveland decides to do him a favor and that just isn’t going to happen.

It’s probably a fun hypothetical for basketball fans to think about, but it’s not a likely one. They would be the biggest threats and title favorites according to some. The odds of it happening just aren’t great.
