The Golden State Warriors’ 2015 Finals MVP Andre Iguodala weighed in on the results of the big fight between Canelo Alvarez and GGG.

The entire world seemingly stopped when Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor stepped into the ring together. The hype was all there for that star-studded combat competition. It was MMA’s biggest star stepping into the ring for the first time versus a boxing legend looking to make history in his last fight.

Mayweather-McGregor was entertaining. With all of the hooplah surrounding the event, it actually was fun to watch. Though the final result–a Mayweather victory via TKO–was never really in doubt, it was definitely worth your time (but probably not the $100 price attached to it).

While that spectacle got everyone’s attention, the real fight would be happening later when Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin square off. The two boxers went at it last night in a ring with much higher quality boxing than the Mayweather-McGregor contest. The ending, though, was quite controversial and Golden State Warriors’ forward Andre Iguodala didn’t seem to agree with the decision.

The fight ended as a draw. One judge scored it 114-114, which is probably false and too safe, but acceptable. Another had GGG winning 115-112 in favor of Golovkin. A third judge, though, had it scored 118-110 in favor of Canelo, which Iguodala thinks is ridiculous.

Boxing’s problems aren’t anything new and they’re not going away anytime soon. It’s a business that values the dollar bills more than the actual integrity of the sport. There are also egos everywhere.

The 118-110 card was surprising for everyone that paid attention to the fight, including Iguodala. Even those that were supporting Canelo–like myself–thought that he lost the fight. I certainly did not believe that he won 118-110.

It was a fun fight and there will surely be a re-match. Iguodala’s tweet is a good example of how we all felt. Also, we’re still a month away from the start of the season and news is slow.
