Golden State Warriors guard Alex Hamilton has continued to relish every opportunity for growth as a professional basketball player, including his time as a training camp invite this summer.

OAKLAND, Calif. — I’ve never known Golden State Warriors guard Alex Hamilton to be a man with a great deal to say. He’s not the type of guy you can bait into a rant, nor is he the type to go off on a tangent. If you were to ask me to describe him in one word, the first word that would probably come to mind is “quiet.”

Upon closer examination, however, I’d also describe him as incredibly focused, amazingly intelligent, and remarkably patient. These are, of course, the traits of a great floor general, a title that I’m sure Hamilton is capable of earning in due time.

In fact, his most recent experience as a Golden State Warriors training camp invite most definitely validates that notion. Talking about his preseason experience, Hamilton says that he’s appreciated the chance to train with some of the best  — most especially two of the NBA’s most respected point guards.

"“[Training camp] has been good. Having guys that are on this roster — guys like (Stephen Curry) and Shaun (Livingston) that play my position — being able to learn from guys like that, it’s just been awesome,” said Hamilton. “It’s been a blessing to have these guys around.”"

Unfortunately, Hamilton’s training camp experience will have to end here. Following Golden State’s first preseason game of 2017, the Warriors announced that Hamilton would be among the two players waived prior to the team’s trip to China. Hamilton was afforded just two minutes on the floor against the Denver Nuggets, during which time he scored two points (1-1 FG).

The fact of the matter is that Golden State has a great deal of depth at point guard, and keeping Hamilton for any while longer would have been a bit redundant. Despite the bad news, this may actually end up being a blessing in disguise for the 6-foot-4 point guard.
