Golden State Warriors: 5 Opening Night Storylines Every Fan Should Follow
1. Warriors to honor lives affected by Northern California fires
As reported by Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Golden State Warriors will refrain from using any pregame pyrotechnics out of respect for those that were affected by the Northern California fires that left 41 dead and hundreds more without a home.
In addition, the Warriors recently teamed up with the Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, San Jose Sharks, Oakland A’s, San Francisco Giants and San Jose Earthquakes to donate a combined total of $450,000 to help support fire relief efforts in the area.
Update (3:33 p.m. PT): The Warriors will be auctioning off their exclusive, autographed shooting shirts in an effort to raise money for fire relief efforts. Per team president Rick Welts, Golden State will also be holding a second auction to be announced later. MORE INFO
