The Golden State Warriors had their ring ceremony spoiled as they picked up their first loss of the season to the Houston Rockets on opening night. Here are five important things to glean from an otherwise disappointing ending.

A night that began in adulation ended in hysteria as the Golden State Warriors let the first game of the season slip between their ring-bearing fingers.

Despite leading for almost the entirety of the game and an Oracle crowd that was hyped up from the championship celebration, the Warriors lost to the Rockets,122-121. The Warriors were outscored 34-20 in the 4th quarter. To make the loss even more bitter, the team had a taste of victory before Kevin Durant‘s game-winning shot was waved off.

But this is no reason to panic.

In case anyone forgot, the Warriors lost their first game last season as well. Even though they lost, there was a lot of fun to be had and insight to be gained.
