Golden State Warriors: Four takeaways from win over New Orleans Pelicans
The Golden State Warriors are finally in the win column after defeating the New Orleans Pelicans. Here are four takeaways from that game.
The Golden State Warriors finally got their first win of the season. They were in last place following their close loss to the Houston Rockets on Ring Night. It was a less-than-ideal start to the season for the defending champs and it didn’t get any easier for them.
They flew to New Orleans to take on Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, and the Pelicans. Unlike in the season opener, Andre Iguodala played and Draymond Green was available for the duration of the game. The Warriors withstood every Pelican attack and defeated them 128-120.

New Orleans–as expected–came out firing early on and jumped out to a quick lead. The game turned into a contest of runs with both teams mustering together strings of good play. Ultimately, the Warriors’ talent and experience outlasted the Pelicans’ energy.
The Warriors, like many other teams, are trying to figure out who they are right now. Sure, they have a championship core, but they have to consider health and rotations. The team has a few new role players that need to be incorporated so Steve Kerr is figuring out lineups, something that cost them the opener.
Golden State has to turn around and play the Memphis Grizzlies on a back-to-back. Before moving onto that game, though, it’s important to break down their victory over the Pelicans. Here are four takeaways from their first win of the season.
