Conclusion: Ignore the noise

There is a deep dive suggesting that Curry isn’t a bad defender, and it doesn’t matter. Critics will  nitpick. With that said, Curry should continue to rely and hone his strengths and improve his weaknesses. For Curry, it’s all about improving his defense in the context of the team.

On the season, Curry has 8 steals and has a defensive rating of 112 and those numbers will only improve once he settles down and stop the senseless fouling. The best version of Curry on defense was during last year’s playoffs where he was just as impactful as he was on offense.

Before the playoffs began, Ron Adams challenged Curry defensively and he responded by totaling 84 defensive rebounds, 34 steals and 4 blocks. For Curry, success on defense is forcing the man he’s guarding in taking low percentage shots and  occupying the passing lanes for a steal.

Next: Steve Kerr to Honor Al Attles

The need to silence the critics on this matter is understood. But ultimately if Curry’s approach to defense is helping the team, the criticism  shouldn’t matter.
