Dennis Mavin

6-foot-3 guard Dennis Mavin is the last of the three “local tryouts” listed on the Santa Cruz Warriors training camp roster. Before going undrafted in 2015, he played 33 games in his senior year at Florida International, averaging 17.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.2 steals in 35.6 minutes.

There isn’t any statistical information for Mavin on RealGM beyond the five games he spent with Lithuianian club Pieno Zvaigzdes during the 2015-16 season. While in Lithuania, Mavin averaged 4.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 12.1 minutes.

From what I understand, Mavin also spent time with Fath Union Sport de Rabat in Morocco during the 2015-16 season, and he re-signed with them for the 2016-17 season. Note that none of this information is confirmed and is entirely based in speculation.

If Mavin remains anything close to the player he was in college, then he’ll have a chance of staying on the roster past training camp. On the other hand, it makes no sense to have seven guards on the roster — five of which are shorter than 6-foot-4.
