Santa Cruz Warriors: Breaking Down the 2017-18 Training Camp Roster
Cleanthony Early
Cleanthony Early will be heading into this second season with the Santa Cruz Warriors after only playing just 14 games with the Sea Dubs last season. The 6-foot-8, 26-year-old forward is due for a breakout season, and it wouldn’t surprise me if an NBA team scoops him up early on in the year.
Last year, Early averaged 10.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 17.8 minutes while shooting 49.5 percent from the field, 43.3 percent from behind the arc and 63.9 percent from the free throw line.
Early was acquired by the Santa Cruz Warriors in a 3-team trade involving the Texas Legends and Westchester Knicks last season. Early — formerly of the New York Knicks — unfortunately started the season nursing a hamstring injury, failing to find consistent minutes after finally being cleared to play in January 2017.
Early had originally signed with Green basketball club AEK B.C. in September, but he was released soon after due to alleged “disciplinary reasons.” He’ll be coming into this season with something to prove.
