Here are four takeaways from the Golden State Warriors game against the Boston Celtics last Thursday at TD Garden.

The Golden State Warriors game last Thursday against the Boston Celtics was paradoxical to be honest.

It lived up to the hype. Watching Boston play the Warriors close and push them was to be expected. Their length on the defensive end has always frustrated and disrupted the Warriors offensively. Last night wasn’t anything different in that regard.

On the other hand, the matchup was not only built around the storyline and plot bout the two best teams in the league going head to head and streak vs. streak. The intriguing subplot of a point guard duel between Stephen Curry and Kyrie Irving dominated the promos for this game.

The issue was that the epic Curry/Irving duel didn’t happen. Irving struggled for most of the game and his 11 of his 16 points came from the free throw line, and Curry’s struggles will be addressed in greater detail. Instead, it was an emotional Jaylen Brown and Kevin Durant that carried the respective offenses during the game.

In addition to the guard battle that wasn’t, the ending of the game was less than idea. In a game that had multiple ties and lead changes, it’s just a buzz kill to see an exciting game end on the charity stripe. It just kind of cheapen what was other wise a  great , competitive game.

Here are four takeaways from the Warriors’ 92-88 loss to the Celtics.
