In Week 2 of the Surf City Summary, I discuss the latest news on Quinn Cook, Damian Jones, Chris Boucher and the rest of the Santa Cruz Warriors.

The Santa Cruz Warriors — G League affiliate of the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors — have most certainly had their ups and downs these past couple weeks. For better or for worse, fans can definitely expect that fluctuation to continue into next month.

After Golden State was forced to bring up Warriors 2-way contract player, Quinn Cook, to fill in for Stephen Curry following the latter’s unfortunate ankle injury, the Sea Dubs have gone 1-3 without Cook in that span, struggling to overcome the absence of Cook, Michael Gbinije and Trevor Thompson.

The timetable for Gbinije and Thompson to return is unknown. Gbinije is out with a right calf sprain, while Thompson is out with a right ankle sprain. Considering how these types of injuries tend to linger and we’re only a month-and-a-half into a 5-month regular season, it’s understandable why Santa Cruz would opt to bring these guys along slowly.

In addition, Curry’s timetable to return to action is indefinite, which means Cook could certainly see some extended time in Oakland over the course of Golden State’s holiday homestand.

But before we get too far into Cook and the current implications of the Curry injury as pertaining to the Santa Cruz Warriors, let’s discuss the guy whom Cook left to pick up the slack in Surf City.
