Terrence Jones to sign with Sea Dubs
Though it won’t be made official until later this week, free agent forward Terrence Jones, will be joining the Santa Cruz Warriors. Per Sam Amick of USA Today, the Sea Dubs were the first to claim Jones from the waiver pool.
After being selected by the Houston Rockets with the 18th overall pick in 2012, the former Kentucky product had his best season in his second year with Houston, averaging 12.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.3 blocks.

He was unable to find consistent minutes with the Rockets by his fourth year in the NBA, becoming a free agent in 2016. He was picked up by the New Orleans Pelicans prior to the 2016-17 season, but he was unfortunately waived on Feb. 23 in a move that was related to the DeMarcus Cousins trade.
Jones signed with the Milwaukee Bucks about a week later, waiving him after only a month. He left the NBA, signing overseas with Qingdao, a basketball club in China. He was waived in late-November, opening the door for Surf City.
Similar to the case with Chris Boucher, I’m unsure how Jones will eventually fit in Santa Cruz. The Sea Dubs have pretty much solidified their frontcourt rotation with mainstays like Damian Jones, Georges Niang and James Southerland, and Chris Boucher and Trevor Thompson are expected to be back from injury by January.
Something has got to give: either Jones gets called up to help ail Golden State’s injury woes for an extended amount of time, Niang gets called up by another team or Southerland/Thompson get the axe. This is all speculation at this point, but my money is on the latter.
