Tonight’s headline matchup in the NBA features the top two teams in the Western Conference as the Warriors travel to Houston to take on the Rockets.

The Rockets and Warriors last met on the opening night of the NBA season where Houston pulled out a 122-121 victory in what was one of the most exciting games of the year thus far. Golden State has moved ahead of the Rockets in the standings since that game, and they currently hold a two-game lead over Houston in the West.

James Harden will be unable to play tonight as he continues to deal with a strained hamstring. Harden was at the top of a lot of analysts MVP ballots before the injury, but the Rockets will be without him for at least a couple of weeks due to this injury.

Unfortunately both teams are on the second night of a back-to-back, which is something the NBA was trying to avoid in these primetime games as tonight’s matchup will be aired on TNT.

Kevin Durant will sit out tonight’s game with a calf injury, which is likely the result of this game being included in a back-to-back. Andre Iguodala and Omri Casspi are the only other injury concerns for Golden State as they are both questionable for tonight’s matchup.

Houston is coming off of a 116-98 road win in Orlando, and the Warriors are fresh off of a 125-122 victory over the Mavericks in which Steph Curry nailed a three-point dagger to give the ‘Dubs the win.

The Warriors should pick up a win in Houston tonight over a team that is missing their MVP candidate.
