There is less than a month to go until the NBA trade deadline. Should the Warriors look to make a move before February 8th?

The Warriors currently have a three-game lead over the Rockets for the number-one seed in the Western Conference. While the first couple weeks of the season were a little rough, Golden State has rounded into form and looked like the defending champions this year.

It’s hard to find many weak spots on this roster where the Warriors could improve in a trade.

The center position is a bit of a question mark, however I think there are some quality options there for playoff time. Zaza Pachulia is playing too many minutes right now, but I think David West and Jordan Bell will largely push Pachulia out of the rotation when the games really start to count.

The Warriors also don’t really have a true backup point guard, and that has become apparent as Steph Curry has missed some time with an injury this season. But Golden State’s offensive system doesn’t really need a true point guard to be successful, and they have plenty of adequate ball-handlers outside of Curry to carry the load.

The Warriors’ front office doesn’t have any cap room to work with even if they wanted to make a trade. According to Spotrac, the Warriors are approximately $36 million over the salary cap, and they are already paying an estimated $34 million in luxury tax.

When you have two MVP’s and four total All-Stars on the roster, there normally isn’t much money to work with. Fortunately, that means that the Warriors don’t have many weaknesses to address at the trade deadline.

The Warriors will probably stand pat at the deadline, and that’s totally fine as their current roster is more than capable of winning the NBA Finals in June.
