Golden State Warriors two-way contract player Chris Boucher will make his NBA debut on Wednesday when the Santa Cruz Warriors host the Reno Bighorns at Kaiser Permanente Arena.

Some big news coming out of Surf City: Golden State Warriors two-way contract player, Chris Boucher, will finally be making his NBA debut with Golden State’s G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors.

Boucher is set to make an appearance on Wednesday when the Sea Dubs host the Reno Bighorns at Kaiser Permanente Arena, having been sidelined since signing his two-way contract back in July 2017.

The reason he hasn’t seen a minute of NBA action is because back in March 2017, Boucher suffered a tear to his left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) while playing in the first half of a Pac-12 Tournament semifinal game against the University of California, Berkeley.

For the sake of storytelling, he actually ended up finishing that game, recording 10 points and two blocks.

He then underwent surgery to repair his left ACL in April 2017, which greatly affected his standing in the 2017 NBA Draft. He eventually went undrafted, but it wasn’t long before NBA reporter Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports broke the news that he’d been picked up by the reigning NBA champions.

Since then, Boucher has been busy undergoing rehabilitation processes to help restore the strength in his left knee. Back in September 2017, Warriors beat writer Anthony Slater of The Athletic spoke to Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr, who revealed the Boucher was apparently “ahead of schedule.”

Slater included a recorded video of Boucher working out at the the Rakuten Performance Center (formerly known as the Warriors Practice Facility), in which Boucher was seen taking a couple threes, as well as a close range stepback off his left foot.

Later on in October, Blue Man Hoop got the chance to speak to Boucher about his injury status during a Santa Cruz Warriors Media Day interview, finding out that he had been aiming for a January debut.

It’s a great sign to see Boucher hit his goal, and I can’t wait to see how he fits within the Warriors system.
