Golden State Warriors: 3 best performers in MLK Day win vs. Cavs
Honorable Mention: Klay Thompson
Klay Thompson has been one of my favorite players in the NBA since he was drafted back in 2011. Not only is he a sharpshooter that moves incredibly well off the ball, but he also has a laid back personality that I believe plays a huge part in Golden State’s overall success.
The Warriors are incredibly lucky to have a guy like Thompson that doesn’t have an overinflated ego. He doesn’t complain about his role, nor does he complain about his minutes or his touches. He understands team basketball and does whatever is necessary to get the win.
Going against the Cavs on Monday, Thompson finished with 17 points, four rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block. He was also pretty efficient offensively, shooting 7-of-12 from the field and 3-of-6 from behind the arc.
He scored 13 points in the first quarter alone and still finished a +10 in 35 minutes of play, which is a testament to his developing versatility and ability to play both ends of the floor. Considering how great of a fit he is with the Warriors, I wouldn’t want to trade him for anyone.
