Steph Curry and Kevin Durant Named All-Star Starters
By Andrew Ites
The Warriors’ two former MVP’s will be starting in the All-Star Game in February, and Steph Curry will be one of the team captains.
There was little doubt that Steph Curry and Kevin Durant would be in the starting lineup for the Western Conference All-Stars this season. However, there was a shakeup to the format this year as the teams will be chosen by two team captains.
The captains were determined by who were the top two vote-getters, and Steph Curry earned the title as a team captain this year. Curry’s team will be facing off against the other team captain, LeBron James, which will make this a juicy matchup.
While Steph Curry’s season has been derailed a bit by injuries, he’s been his usual spectacular self when he’s been healthy.

He has a ridiculous 29.3 Player Efficiency Rating this season while scoring 27.7 points per game, dishing 6.5 assists per game and grabbing 5.3 rebounds per game. He’s also close to another 50/40/90 season as he’s shooting 49.5% from the field, 41.8% from 3 and 91.8% from the free throw line.
Kevin Durant has had a similarly fantastic season, and he’s been forced to carry a slightly larger load by playing in seven more games than Curry.
He has a PER of 25.4 while scoring 26.2 points per game with 6.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists, and he’s having the best defensive season of his career with 2.1 blocks per game. Durant has a strong case for winning the MVP over the first half of the season, and he’s being rewarded with a starting spot in the All-Star Game.
