Steph Curry was one of the captains for the All-Star Game’s new playground-style draft format, but he was unable to keep all of his Warriors teammates on one team.
Steph and LeBron James were the two captains for the first ever All-Star Game draft. Unfortunately the draft was not televised, but we now know what the rosters will be for the game in mid-February.
Curry and LeBron were forced to pick from the list of starters first. Curry’s starting lineup will be James Harden, DeMar DeRozan, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid along with Steph.
LeBron’s starters include Kyrie Irving, DeMarcus Cousins, Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis.
Curry’s bench will unite him with two of his teammates in Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. Kyle Lowry, Jimmy Butler, Damian Lillard, Karl-Anthony Towns and Al Horford round out the rest of Curry’s roster.
LeBron will have Bradley Beal, LeMarcus Aldridge, Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook, Victor Oladipo, Kristaps Porzingis, and John Wall on his bench.

Takeaways
LeBron had the first overall pick, so we can guess he took Durant off the board before Curry had the opportunity with the second pick. Steph said he was going to draft the Greek Freak so he didn’t dunk on him again, so that was likely his first pick.
Steph had the first pick when the draft moved on to the reserves. We can guess that he probably took Draymond or Klay first, LeBron took Kevin Love, then Steph came back to pick whoever was left between Klay and Draymond.
Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook will be reunited on the All-Star team. Their relationship was the main storyline of last year’s All-Star Game during Durant’s first season with Golden State, and there is going to be a bunch of buzz surrounding it again this year.

It would’ve been nice to see all four Warriors on the same team again, but seeing the original trio of Draymond, Klay and Steph go up against Durant and LeBron will be must-see television.
