In this week’s “Town’s Finest,” we highlight two separate performances from 2018 NBA All-Star Game captain and Golden State Warriors sharpshooter, Stephen Curry.
Being an underdog is the fuel that drives Stephen Curry.
It drove him and his Davidson Wildcats squad to the Elite Eight ten years ago. It drove him to two MVPs, two championships, and a scoring title with the Golden State Warriors.
Obviously, you can say that Curry’s selections for his All-Star team are on brand.
With a lineup that features Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Anthony Davis, #TeamLeBron is arguably the favorite to win the midseason classic. Consequently, Curry prefers it that way.
“We have a lot of shooters, ” Curry told TNT’s Rosalyn Gold-Onwunde “and I like that people are sleeping on us. I like being the underdog”

On the other hand, just how much of an underdog is Curry and his squad? Granted, #TeamLeBron has the athleticism and insane length. However, Curry has snipers such as James Harden, Klay Thompson, and Damian Lillard on the team.
In addition to shooters, Curry also has Giannis Antetokounmpo and Karl Anthony-Towns on the team. These guys have the ability to guard nearly anyone in the league. Speaking of defense, Curry also has the services of the reigning DPOY in Draymond Green.
Plus, Curry drafted his team with the coach in mind: He knew that it was a possibility that Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni would coach the squad. Eventually, Curry was right — the Rockets clinched the best winning percentage among eligible coaches last week, thus earning the Rockets’ staff the honors.
Simply put, you can’t play games on paper. Despite the matchup disparities, Curry’s team have a legit chance of pulling off an upset. The All-Star Game may be three weeks away, but there are no shortages of top performances from some of the Dubs’ all-stars for Week 9.
Let’s get to them.
