ESPN’s Chris B. Haynes reported late Wednesday night that LeBron James is open to meeting with the Golden State Warriors this summer in free agency if they’re able to free up a max contract spot — and the Internet went crazy.

Chris B. Haynes of ESPN reported late Wednesday night that the Golden State Warriors could possibly have a chance at signing LeBron James, and it completely blows my mind considering David Lee was once the only free agent that actually wanted to play in the Bay Area.

I mean, holy mother of dragons — I can’t even begin to imagine a lineup headlined by Stephen CurryKevin Durant, Draymond Green and LeBron James. What would we even call that? A super-duper mega-death lineup?

As expected, James will be declining his $35.6 million player option this summer to become an unrestricted free agent, which means the Warriors would have the tough job of finding a way to give the King a max contract.

Given James’ current situation in Cleveland, it would be to no one’s surprise if he left Cleveland, but it would no doubt send the league into the Upside Down if he left Cleveland for the nice, democratic style of the Golden State Warriors.

Whatever happens, I’m here for it.

What would happen if LeBron wanted to play in the Bay?

According to Haynes and ESPN’s Kevin Pelton, the Dubs could build a deal around Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala to help facilitate a sign-and-trade for LeBron, and they’d have to find a way to move Shaun Livingston‘s contract.

Where Cleveland finishes in the postseason and whether Golden State wins another title could also end up being deciding factors.

If James does decide to leave Cleveland for Golden State, the Warriors would undoubtedly be the most hated team in NBA history. A move like this would essentially be on par with what Durant did to Oklahoma City, and OKC wasn’t even KD’s hometown!

On the other hand, if James decides that he does NOT want to play for the Warriors, I think this would be a relief for most, if not all Warriors fans.

I think the way that James has taken control of every team he’s been on would not bode well for an organization that prides itself on sharing the wealth and letting every player have their shine.

Though it’s completely unrealistic this deal even comes close to happening, DubNation should no doubt consider themselves lucky when they get the notification that James has no intention to sign with the Golden State Warriors.
