An ESPN report detailing LeBron James’ interest in a possible meeting with the Warriors this summer shook up the entire NBA. LeBron is now denying the report essentially saying that it’s fake news.

LeBron can opt out of his contract after this season, and his impending free agency has had the NBA in a frenzy since last summer. The latest rumors have connected him to the Warriors in a move that would create the greatest basketball team that the Earth has ever seen.

I’ve already looked at some of the possible ulterior motives for this story coming about with just a week before the trade deadline, and what type of message LeBron wanted to send with this story.

LeBron was asked about the Warriors rumors on Friday, and he dismissed the report as “nonsense”.

"“The first thing I did was start laughing, actually.” James told the media. “It’s nonsense. It’s a non-story. I think it’s a discredit to what I’m trying to do here.”"

Denying the story is really the only option LeBron has right now. Despite the Cavaliers’ struggles this year, he’s still trying to win a championship and not waste a precious season in the prime of his career.

Confirming the legitimacy of the story would make Cleveland’s team chemistry even worse than it already is, but it’s hard to believe ESPN’s Chris Haynes just made up this story out of thin air.

LeBron’s entire second go-around in Cleveland has been the greatest soap opera on television, and it’s been full of mystery and nuance that has kept the NBA talking for four straight years. The latest rumors connecting LeBron to the Warriors can be dismissed for now as there will be plenty of time to dissect The King’s free agent decision over the next five months.
