Golden State Warriors start season series with Hawks 114-109
The Golden State Warriors kicked off their regular season series with the Atlanta Hawks on Friday with a 114-109 victory at the Philips Arena.
The reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors left Philips Arena with the victory Friday afternoon, defeating the Atlanta Hawks 114-109 in their first regular season matchup.
The Dubs opened the game 33-31 in the first quarter, allowing the Hawks to trail close behind. The second quarter was a difference case entirely, in which the Warriors held Atlanta to just 19 points to establish a 12-point lead going into halftime.
The Hawks looked much more energized coming out of the locker room, beating Golden State in the third quarter 34-28. A 9-0 run allowed the Hawks to bring the game to within two by the last 20 seconds of the contest, but a steal and subsequent dunk by Andre Iguodala eventually secured the game for GSW.
The Warriors improve their regular season win/loss record to 49-14, pushing their current win streak to five consecutive games. They remain half a game behind the Houston Rockets for the first seed in the Western Conference.
