The Golden State Warriors may have beaten the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday, but Stephen Curry’s ankle woes have seemingly come back to haunt him.

The reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors took care of the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday, defeating the former Western Conference powerhouse 110-107 at Oracle Arena.

After missing their first 12 attempts at the basket, the Warriors got out to one of their patented runs, eventually finishing the first quarter up 28-20. They ran out of steam in the latter half of the second quarter, scoring only 18 while giving up 29 points to San Antonio.

Golden State came out of halftime firing on all cylinders, but they continued to trade baskets with the Spurs for much of the third quarter. Down by nine going into the fourth, the Warriors found the will to close out the game, dropping in a 32-20 fourth quarter.

The win, however, was bittersweet, as Stephen Curry may possibly miss a couple games after suffering his second ankle tweak in six days.

The play in question occurred at the 9:38 mark in the first quarter with Curry attempting a highly contested, two-on-one layup in transition. As Curry stumbled out of bounds to break his momentum, he accidentally made contact with the top of Dejounte Murray‘s foot, rolling his right ankle.

Curry returned to the game to shoot his two free throws, making his way to the locker room to get his ankle checked out.

The Warriors training staff reportedly tried to tape Curry’s ankle to hopefully get him back in the game, but the team ultimately decided to sit Curry for the rest of the game based on Curry’s performance during the subsequent functionality tests.

Nevertheless, the Dubs earned yet another victory, led by Kevin Durant‘s 37 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and four blocks. He shot an efficient 14-of-26 from the field, 4-of-7 from behind the arc and 5-of-7 from the free throw line.

JaVale McGee had one of his best nights as a starter, posting 13 points, seven rebound and four blocks in 17 minutes. He went 5-of-8 from the field and 3-of-3 from the charity stripe, providing the Warriors with an inspired outing.

Klay Thompson dropped in 13 points, two rebounds, six assists and one steal, while Nick Young added 12 points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal in 26 minutes off the bench. Draymond Green recorded a triple-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and two blocks.

Golden State improves the regular season record to 51-14, pushing their current win streak to seven consecutive games. They remain half a game behind the Houston Rockets and the first seed  in the Western Conference.
