The injuries keep piling up for the Warriors as Klay Thompson will be out at least a week with a fractured thumb according to ESPN’s Chris Haynes.

While getting Andre Iguodala and Jordan Bell back for Wednesday’s game against the Lakers will help the Warriors’ bench, the rest of the injury report has been nothing but bad news.

Steph Curry will be out until at least March 20th with his most recent ankle sprain, Draymond Green will be on the sidelines on Wednesday with a sore shoulder, and David West continues to miss time with a cyst in his arm.

Klay Thompson was originally diagnosed with a sprained thumb on his shooting hand, but that has been upgraded to a fracture according to the latest reports. Thompson will reportedly be re-evaluated on March 22, which means he will miss at least the Warriors’ next four games and he could miss up to two weeks.

With three of Golden State’s All-Stars out of the lineup on Wednesday, the offensive burden will lie almost entirely on Kevin Durant. Even if Draymond comes back after sitting out on Wednesday, Durant will carry an enormous offensive load as the Warriors will be without the Splash Brothers for at least a week or so.

Fortunately, these injuries have happened during a soft part of the Warriors’ schedule where they face non-playoff teams in three straight games. Their biggest challenge with this weakened starting lineup will be a trip to San Antonio on March 19th.

Golden State is also lucky that these injuries are happening now instead of in the playoffs. These injuries definitely hurt the Warriors’ chances of catching Houston for the number one seed, but Golden State doesn’t seem too concerned with that right now.

The Warriors’ staff needs to make sure their players are fully recovered from these recent injuries before they make their sixth straight trip to the playoffs to defend their championship.
