The Santa Cruz Warriors lost 134-129 to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Thursday at State Farm Arena.

Despite scoring a season-high 41 points in the fourth quarter, the Santa Cruz Warriors, G League affiliate of the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors, were unsuccessful in their last-minute comeback attempt, narrowly losing 134-129 to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Thursday at State Farm Arena.

The Sea Dubs were caught completely off guard to start the game, giving up 41 points in the first quarter. They answered with a 35-27 second quarter, but gave up another 40-point quarter to the Vipers to start the second half.

Santa Cruz continued to pressure RGV well into the fourth quarter, putting together a 15-3 run to come within two with only 17.5 seconds left in the contest. Unfortunately, the Warriors just couldn’t cap off their run with another go-ahead bucket as the Vipers defense dug in to close the game strong.

Surf City drops to a regular season record of 22-24 with only three games left in the season. They’ll return home to Kaiser Permanente Arena on Sunday, March 18 to host the Northern Arizona Suns, kicking off a 3-game homestand to end the year.
