Santa Cruz Warriors head coach Aaron Miles is most definitely in favor of Quinn Cook earning a playoff spot with the Golden State Warriors.

Aaron Miles, the head coach of the Santa Cruz Warriors, strongly believes Quinn Cook deserves a postseason roster spot with the Golden State Warriors.

In fact, considering the team’s struggle to remain healthy and Cook’s recent contributions to keep the team afloat, I highly doubt any Warriors fan in his or her right mind would disagree with that notion.

Unfortunately, as we all are aware, the reality of the situation is that Golden State would have to waive one of their current bench players in order to accommodate Cook.

While the NBA would be unable to modify the rules at this current moment in time, Coach Miles believes that after witnessing Cook’s significance to the reigning NBA champions, the league will be inclined to change the rules to allow two-way contract players to play in the major league playoffs.

“I wish the NBA and the G League would come up with a solution to where, if you’re a part of that two-way, then you’re on the roster come playoff time. Now you got 17 roster spots, dress 13.” Miles said in an interview following a win over the Northern Arizona Suns at Kaiser Permanente Arena.

“It’s unfair for a person, in my opinion, to be starting for you in the NBA as a two-way, help you win some games, and then when it comes time for the playoffs, (they) don’t get that opportunity. I think that’s a flaw, something that could be corrected easily.”

Cook played 29 games with the Santa Cruz Warriors, averaging 25.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 8.1 assists on 52.6 percent shooting from the field, 43.1 percent shooting from behind the arc and 94.7 percent shooting from the free throw line.

Filling in for Stephen Curry the past few games, Cook has averaged 18.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals over the last five contests, shooting 54.5 percent from the field and 48.1 percent from long range.

When asked about Cook’s significance to the Warriors this season, Coach Miles had nothing but high praise for the elite combo guard, commending Cook for his ability to lead both on and off the court.

“Obviously he was huge for us (Santa Cruz) from the gate,” said Miles. “I don’t know exactly what his winning percentage was down here, but I’m sure it was pretty good. I think his personality, his character was good for us.”

“That’s what this league is for — him getting to come down here and play, but also having the opportunity to play with Golden State,” continued Miles. “He’s done a great job up there. They love him, just like we love him, and I’m happy for him.”
