The Golden State Warriors lost by 20 points in Indiana on Thursday, and head coach Steve Kerr took the loss a bit too seriously.
The Warriors were coming into Indiana off of one of their most impressive wins of the season in Oklahoma City on Tuesday night. They let the hangover from that victory affect them in Indiana as they were never came particularly close to the Pacers in the second half.
Steve Kerr sent a message to his team with some strong words after the game saying that “caring was the main problem” in their most recent loss.
“I know that this game doesn’t mean anything in the seeding, (but) the playoffs start next week,” Kerr continued.
Kerr finished the press conference in a sarcastic tone saying, “The game doesn’t matter. We’ll try next week.”

Golden State obviously didn’t bring their A-game to the floor in Indianapolis, but I’m not sure it’s as big of a deal as Kerr makes it out to be.
The Warriors are totally locked in to the number two seed in the Western Conference playoff picture, and their players have a reason to be tired.
Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, and Draymond Green have all recently returned after missing significant time due to injury. The bench is also incredibly thin right now as Andre Iguodala, Omri Casspi, and Patrick McCaw were all unable to play on Thursday night.
Everybody on the team has had to step up in the absence of Steph Curry, and they were clearly exhausted after an incredibly physical and emotional win in Oklahoma City a couple of days ago.
The Warriors had won three in a row before Thursday’s loss, and Indiana came into tonight’s game with much more motivation to improve their playoff seeding.
Next: Warriors trek to repeat will face a lot of turbulence
I understand Steve Kerr trying to fire up his team, but I think his postgame comments were an overreaction considering the circumstances.
