Steph Curry Expected to Save the Day in the Second Round
By Andrew Ites
While Steve Kerr has continued to rule out Steph Curry for the first round of the playoffs, Shams Charania is reporting Steph is expected to return in the second round.
Steve Kerr spoke to the media on Thursday ahead of the Warriors’ first round series against the Spurs, and said that Steph Curry will not be active in this series.
Steph has missed 16 of the past 17 games due to injuries, and it looks like that streak will last at least four more games before the Warriors hopefully move on to the second round.
We don’t want to look too far ahead as Gregg Popovich and San Antonio could give Golden State some trouble in the first round, but either the Portland Trailblazers or the New Orleans Pelicans will be waiting for the Warriors in the second round.
Each of those teams presents a different set of challenges for the Warriors, and they’ll need Steph Curry back in the lineup to feel confident in their abilities to move past one of those teams to reach the Conference Finals.

The second round of the playoffs has always been the most logical time for Steph to return to the lineup, and that hasn’t changed over the three weeks he’s been out. Curry is set to be re-evaluated on Saturday where the Warriors’ medical staff will learn more about how much progress he’s made in recovery.
Hopefully Golden State can take care of business while Steph is out so they won’t be tempted to rush him back from this injury.
The rest of the Warriors’ All-Stars will need to step up in his absence if Golden State wants to make it to the second round.
